To improve access to long-acting contraception over summer, we will be bulk-billing all IUD and Implanon insertion procedures until 28 February 2026.
Recent higher Medicare rebates for these procedures have allowed us to pass these benefits directly on to patients and we think that’s important.
Why long-acting contraception?
IUDs:
Over 99% effective, last 5–10 years, hormonal or copper options, and hormonal IUDs can reduce heavy or painful periods.
Implanon:
Over 99% effective, lasts 3 years, and ideal for those preferring a hormonal option without a uterine device.
How the process works
- Pre-procedure consultation (privately billed)
You’ll first need to attend a privately billed consultation with one of our experienced inserter GPs to discuss your individual circumstances and choose the most suitable option for you. - Insertion procedure (bulk-billed)
If an IUD or Implanon is appropriate, your procedure appointment will be bulk-billed during this period.
Device cost is separate; Implanon and hormonal IUDs are PBS-subsidised.
